India: Husband built a replica of the Taj Mahal because he loved his wife too much

The Daily Mail reported on November 22 that Anand Prakash Chouksey (52 years old), from Burhanpur city, Madhya Pradesh state, built a 10,000 square meter marble house for his wife, Manju Shah (48 years old). .

Like the famous 17th-century Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world, the house has surrounding spiers and domes. In addition, the floor and front of the house are made of Makrana marble, the same stone used to build the Taj Mahal.

The house is 1/3 the size of the original with 4 bedrooms, 1 hall, 1 library and 1 meditation room. Mr Chouksey took three years to complete the house and declined to disclose the cost of construction. “I wanted to create a unique house in a small town, so that it becomes a permanent mark of the town,” Mr. Chouksey said.

The original Taj Mahal was built between 1632 and 1653 by the Mogul Emperor Shāh Jahān as a mausoleum for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal. “What could be better than building the Taj Mahal? This house is a symbol of my wife’s love” – Mr. Chouksey shared.

“Mrs. Mumtaz Mahal passed away in Burhanpur after a long illness. This city was famous for that, but now it will also be known for the second Taj Mahal,” Mr. Chouksey said proudly.

Construction on the house began three years ago and Mr. Chouksey’s family moved in this year. Since then, their house has been visited by many locals and tourists. Some people come here hoping to take wedding photos at an economical price.
