The excavation of the ancient well has yielded many positive results. The ancient well is more than 5m deep, on the bricks to build the well are engraved with the worker’s name. In addition, they also found many pieces of porcelain, wall foundation, stove, refractory brick… all of which belong to an ancient building.
The temple below the old well
After reviewing historical data, archaeologists discovered that ancient wells of this size only appeared in temples or pagodas of the Song Dynasty. In historical books, at the location of this ancient well in the Song Dynasty, there was a Long Binh temple located.

It was not until 2016 that the archaeological team found the exact location of the underground palace at the foot of the stupa of Long Binh Pagoda. At the inner wall of the palace, they found countless ancient coins, estimated to be tens of thousands of coins dating from the Han to Song dynasties.
Inside the underground palace of Long Binh Pagoda, experts also found a lot of precious cultural relics such as silver spoons, silver hairpins, bronze mirrors, silver turtle statues, Shakyamuni statues… However, treasures The most valuable thing they found was the box containing the relics of the Buddha.

Although it cannot be compared with the 8-layer relic box found at Phap Mon Pagoda, or the 7-layer box of Trieu Duong Bac tower, the box of Long Binh Pagoda also has up to 5 layers made from materials such as stone. , wood, iron, gold and silver. Inside the last layer is a small bronze vase engraved with silver letters containing four Buddha relics.
It is known that in ancient times, Bach Hac town was called Thanh Long town. According to historical records, Thanh Long town was an extremely important trading port. Based on the favorable geographical position of Lijiang connecting to the sea, the town of Thanh Long was the place to exchange goods at home and abroad of China at that time.
