The Qin Wang sword is the name for the sword found in 1994 in the tomb of Qin Shi Huang at Mount Lishan in Shaanxi province, 50 km east of Xi’an. This 2,500-year-old sword is now considered one of China’s national treasures. The sword is 55.7 cm long, including a 8.4 cm hilt and a 4.6 cm wide blade, weighing 875 grams, discovered in Jiangling, Hubei in 1965.
The blade has a pattern of repeating rhombuses on both sides. On one side of the sword, two rows of characters are engraved with 8 characters near the hilt, meaning “Viet King Cau Tien has the effect of sword” so it is said to be inherent in the sword. owned by the Yue King Goujian (496 BC – 465 BC), was the king of a vassal state at the end of the Spring and Autumn period in Chinese history (now Shanghai, northern Zhejiang and southern Jiangsu).

Scientists have analyzed the materials to forge this sword, including copper, iron, lead, tin, and sulfur, in which copper accounts for the highest percentage. Even this sword is so elaborately forged that each part of the sword has a different material composition.
