King Tutankhamun’s Penis Was Completely Erect When Mummified To Resemble An Egyptian God

Tutankhamun was an Egyptian pharaoh (king) (1343-1323 BC), often referred to as the “child king” because he ascended the throne when he was only about 10 years old.

After his death, King Tut was mummified in a very unusual way, the body had no heart or heart-shaped artifacts, the erect penis was placed at a 90-degree angle and the whole body and coffin were covered. covered by a layer of black liquid.

This king’s penis was erected thanks to a kind of plastic packaging.

These anomalies have indeed caused much controversy in academia and media attention in recent years.

Most recently, an article published in the Journal of Etudes et Travaux by Egyptologist Salima Ikram, a professor at the American University in Cairo (Egypt), has found a lot of pretty convincing reasons why. for such an unusual burial of King Tut.

According to the article, mummified erection penis and other abnormalities of King Tut’s mummy are not negligence in the mummification process as many studies have shown. These points are, in essence, a consciously crafted attempt to make King Tut look like the underworld god Osiris.

Specifically, the mummy’s erect penis symbolizes Osiris’ regenerative power, the black liquid on the mummy’s skin resembles that of the god Osiris, and the removed heart recalls the story of the god Osiris being taken by humans. His brother, Seth, cut his body into pieces and cut his heart out and buried him.

Along with other oddities, the mummy is believed to revive Egypt’s polytheistic religion

Prof Ikram said that making King Tut appear like Osiris could help counter the religious revolution initiated by Akhenaten, a pharaoh believed to be King Tut’s father.

Prior to that, Akhenaten attempted to center the Egyptian religion around the worship of one supreme god of the city of Aten and to destroy the worship of other gods. On the contrary, King Tut tried to return Egypt to the tradition of polytheism.

A mummy with an erect penis really shocked expert Ikram. “As far as I know, no mummy has ever had such an erect penis. King Tut’s erect penis may have been connected to Osiris, a symbol of rebirth and resurrection,” Ikram said.

It is known that the tomb of King Tut was discovered in 1922 by archaeologist Howard Carter. When the black oil and plastic layer was discovered on the mummy’s body, it was believed that King Tut’s mummy might have caught fire during the burial process. Ikram also noted that her research on the mummy of King Tut representing the god Osiris was a bold idea. But if this is at all true, it will be a great solution to the mysteries of this famous mummy.

“One could speculate that, at this time of complicated religious history, it is possible that the mummy anomalies were a way for the priests to prepare to emphasize the spiritual significance of the mummy. The sacredness of King Tut is identified with the god Osiris,” Ikram wrote in the article.

The mummy was also wrapped in a bandage similar to today’s gauze, about 4.7 meters long and had narrow bandages of 50 pieces.

According to a 2010 DNA study of 10 mummies in King Tut’s family, the king was descended from a family with inbreeding.

This is the family tree of King Tut’s family. Scientists believe that King Tut’s father, Akhenaten, married his sister and gave birth to King Tut.

When Tut ascended the throne again, he married his sister Ankhesenpaaten, later renamed Ankhesenamun. Thus, King Tut’s two daughters both died prematurely.

The strange amulet found on the chest of King Tut’s mummy was an unusual necklace. It is a natural glass. To get to it the ancient Egyptians had to traverse the desert 500 miles (800km).
