Archaeologists claim this is a huge find that “can rewrite the history of Israel”. Subsequent excavations revealed massive buildings, flint tools, thousands of arrowheads, sickles, and knives. The aforementioned items and the astonishing scale of construction works, human graves show that this “ghost city” was once inhabited by 3,000 people.

Worth mentioning, this area for centuries has been considered by the Israelis as a “no-man’s area”. They believe that ancient civilizations existed only on the other side of the Jordan River.

Tests show that this ancient city is very rich, bustling and existed as long as 9,000 years ago. For unknown reasons, it almost disappeared without a trace.

According to the Israel Antiquities Authority, the newly discovered ghost city existed during the country’s Neolithic period. It is located on an area of hundreds of acres, about 5 km west of Jerusalem. This area is still quite deserted and belongs to the town of Motza.

They also found carefully and elaborately buried graves of warriors and quite a few weapons and donkeys, supposed to serve these heroes in the afterlife.

“We’ve found a complex archaeological site where diverse economic forms exist, all just a few dozen centimeters below ground!” – said Jacob Vardi, co-director of the excavation.

This “ghost city” can exist for a very long time before “evaporating” from the historical records of Israel, because besides the 9,000-year-old tombs, there are tombs only about 4,000 years old.
