Hundreds of dogs have been rescued by Hope For Paws from the impoverished streets of Los Angeles. You’ll be blown away by how this rescue differs from all the others.
Eldad Hagar visits a South Central community with his dream team. They initially perceive a puppy in need of rescue and a fresh start. But when they got closer, they realized that she isn’t really a pup at all.
The following rescue footage and Eldad’s personal Flickr account were used to gather the highlights of this unusual and amazing day.
“Usually we rescue dogs, but this time, I am pretty sure that we rescued a wolf-hybrid!!”
“Julia had an old rope tied to her which indicates to me that someone owned and neglected her to a criminal level… this poor girl was so swollen from infections, she was bleeding, pus was oozing from everywhere, and it’s hard to see because of this coat, but she is just skin and bones.”
“Lisa offered treats and worked slowly to gain Julia’s trust.”
“Even though Julia was so skinny and starved, she took food so gently.”
The time had come for Eldad and Lisa to attempt to lure Julia to their automobile using the proverbial red leash. Every second that passed without Julia receiving emergency care meant that she would have to suffer more.
When Julia got to the clinic, she had a Demodectic Mange test. The outcomes were favorable. Eldad and his group were aware that Julia would face a difficult but highly worthwhile journey.
“Julia’s paws were so swollen, her nails were so long… so much discomfort, but it was all about to change.”
“As the water broke down the scabs, Julia started bleeding from everywhere. This is a necessary step… a medicated bath.”
After taking a bath, Julia leaned her head against Lisa. She was relieved when it was ended. It was clear from this action that Julia’s rescuers had earned her trust.
Julia was prepared for a foster home after receiving medical treatment for a week. She could now finally enjoy the life that she had always deserved. She revealed her inner self, and her tail started to wag. Oh, and those adorable puppy smiles just wouldn’t stop!
The best part of the story is that Julia found her forever home. She will NEVER have to worry about an empty belly or being alone on the streets ever again! Her rescue is truly amazing to watch. Thank you, Hope For Paws for all that you continue to do for dogs in need!
