NBA 2K24 is set to launch in September, the most recent iteration of an important corner in basketball culture. Player ratings in particular have become a talking point in and of themselves, with fans and players weighing in across social media. This season Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic is the highest rated player in the game, while some of the other top player ratings in NBA 2K24 caused a bit of a stir when they were released earlier this season.
Brown entered last season rated an 87 overall in the previous version the game. The Georgia native wasn’t too pleased at the time, posting on social media about his displeasure. This time around, though, he may have more on his mind.
Brown recently inked a five-year, $304 million supermax contract with the Celtics. This move didn’t just lock up his long-term future with Boston, but the deal is also the most lucrative in NBA history.
In landing the deal, Brown discussed using his new wealth to create a Black Wall Street in Boston. At a press conference held immediatly after he signed the deal, Brown spoke about addressing systemic racism in the Hub and creating new opportunities for historically disenfranchised groups. Video games may not be on his register at the moment.
All the same, Brown is one of the top players in the NBA. Though an 89 overall is his NBA highest NBA 2K player rating to begin a season in his career, it may not align with his place in the league’s pecking order.
